May 2011: The London Premiere of Cleopatra

Claude-Michel at the London Premiere with principal dancers Martha Leebolt, Javier Torres and Tobias Batley

The London Premiere of Claude-Michel’s new ballet Cleopatra was on 17 May at Sadler’s Wells. This follows the critically acclaimed national tour which began with the World Premiere at Leeds Grand Theatre on 26 February 2011.

Claude-Michel and choreographer David Nixon were at this Northern Ballet London Premiere as well as many well known faces including: Alfie Boe, Matt Lucas, Craig Revel Horwood, Wayne Sleep, Anneka Rice, Jeremy Irons, Ronnie Wood, Gillian Anderson and Frances Barber to name but a few. They were all wowed by the music, the dancing and the sheer drama and passion of this new ballet. The CD is now available from Dress Circle or Amazon. A review, cast list, performance photos and interviews can be found in Show Updates. There are some extracts from Cleopatra on You tube – well worth looking at!
