The World Premiere of the Les Misérables Movie was on 5th December at the Odeon Cinema, Leicester Square. It was a big red carpet affair with Michael Ball interviewing cast and creatives on a purpose built stage.
It was a freezing cold evening but the girls paraded in their glamourous evening gowns while the men opted for warmer coats.
The next photos were all taken by Vivienne Vincent of Stars in Focus, who braved the bitter cold to get some great shots.
This much anticipated film was directed by Tom Hooper, who directed the Oscar winning King’s Speech. It was produced by Eric Fellner, Tim Bevan, Debra Hayward and Cameron Mackintosh. It is a groundbreaking film in as much as all the singing was done live instead of the usual way of recording a soundtrack a couple of months before and the actors lipcynching to the recording. Singing live has a profound effect on the power and realism of the performance and you could not imagine Anne Hathaway’s extrarordinary performance of ‘I Dreamed A Dream’ being acheived in any other way.
The US premiere took place in New York on 10 December 2012. The film opens in the US on 25 December 2012 and in the UK on 11 January 2013.
